"Eve's Apology"

What is an apology? Well in the poem "Eve's Apology" by Aemilia Lanyer, an apology takes on a new meaning. For Eve's apology is not an apology at all, but an argument that "Adam can not be excused." According to the Bible, "God created man, then from man's rib created women." They were called Adam and Eve and lived in constant contact with God in the Garden of Eden.
In the garden Adam and Eve ran free and could eat the fruit of all the trees except from the Tree of Knowledge. For God said, "Eating from that tree would surely kill you!" Through deceit and lies a conniving serpent was able to convince Eve that the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge would make her equal to God. So Eve picked the fruit and partook in eating some. Then offered it to her husband. Adam did likewise and all at once they realized they were naked. The hid from God for they felt shame, and clothed themselves in fig leaves. When God came he asked Adam, " Why does thou hide?" Adam Answered, " For we are naked."......
