A Christmas Carol

A Christmas Carol

Charles Dickens was born on February 7th 1812. Charles Dickens when was old enough worked anywhere from law offices to the local newspapers, then became a journalist. At age of 25 he completed his first novel. Dickens wrote A Christmas Carol in 1843.
A Christmas Carol was about a mean-spirited old man named Ebenezer Scrooge who does not believe in the sprite of Christmas. He gets visited by three ghosts: Ghost of Christmas Past, The Ghost of Christmas Present and The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come. The three ghosts change Scrooge's mind and decides to share his new Christmas spirit.
The main characters are; Bob Cratchit - Scrooge's clerk, A kind and very poor man with a large family, even when he was treated badly by his boss. Tiny Tim - Bob Cratchit's young son, crippled from birth. Tiny Tim is a high feeling character who Charles Dickens uses to highlight the poorness of England and to get sympathy from the middle and upper class readers. Fezziwig - The merchant with that Scrooge apprenticed for. Fezziwig was known for his good Christmas parties. I think that Charles Dickens wrote A Christmas Carol because the holiday season was dull and not a greatly celebrated time of the year in the Victorian times.
