Abortion-A Woman's Right To Choose

Abortion has never been an easy decision. Since before the time of Christ, women have been making the choice to interrupt their pregnancy for several reasons1. Whenever a society has sought out to outlaw abortions, it has only driven them into back alleys where the abortion procedures became dangerous, expensive, and humiliating2. This was the case in the United States until 1973, when abortion was legalized nationwide. Thousands of women died from criminal (illegal) abortions and many women were mutilated. Women and men fought for and achieved women's legal right to make their own decisions about abortion in order to protect their health, their rights, and their lives.
Abortion is thought of as a current controversial issue, when in fact, abortions have been performed throughout time. According to Christine Ammer, abortion is the "interruption or loss of pregnancy before the fetus is viable. Spontaneous or natural abortion is called a miscarriage." Women in the Biblical......
