Abortion, the easiest way to fix one's problem, or is it? Since 1973 abortion has been an important controversial issue in the United States of America. There are two sides that people take on it, pro-life and pro-choice. Pro-lifers, like myself are against it and pro-choicer's are for it. Some people see it as a right to citizens, others see it as murder. Abortion is legal in the United States, but that doesn't mean that it is right. But the truth is that abortion is wrong.
The question that flames the issue is, should it be a woman's choice whether or not to terminate her pregnancy or should it be the governments choice? This is where a woman loses her rights as an American. All Americans are given inalienable rights guaranteed by the Constitution. One of those is the right to pursue happiness. An unwanted pregnancy can certainly disrupt a woman's pursuit of happiness. Many pregnancies that end in abortion are due to carelessness. This usually involves young women between the ages of 15 and 25. At those ages some women are might not be financially, mentally, or physically ready to have a child. And because of those factors they should have the choice whether or not to have an abortion, after all it is their body. On the other hand, many pregnancies are due to incest and rape victims. This is when a woman get an abortion because the baby is fathered by someone they don't love. And they don't want to have a child by someone they don't love, under those terrible circumstances. If abortion is made illegal, they will still be performed. One third of all pregnancies in the United States end in abortion a year. 2,500 of those abortions are already performed illegally. The number of self-performed abortions will also rise if it is made illegal.
