Abortion and capital punishment are important issues today, and this misconception is creating a skewed and distorted image on both practices. The misconception is that abortion saves, protects, and benefits while capital punishment kills, tortures, and dangers society. The truth is that abortion kills, tortures and dangers society, while capital punishment saves, protects, and benefits society.
Abortion is murder, and there is only one condition in which abortion should be used, and that is in the case that the baby in the womb will kill the mother. You kill human lives with abortion and in almost every case it still ruins the life of the mother through post-abortion syndrome. Life begins from the moment of conception. More specifically, scientists identify the first moment of human life as that instant when a sperm cell unites with an ovum or egg cell. Some scientists who support the fact that life begins at conception include Dr. Micheline M. Mathews-Roth and Dr. Jerome Lejeune. While both have given numerous testimonies and speeches, Dr. Lejeune, who is known as the "Father of Modern Genetics", told law makers "To accept the fact that after fertilization has taken place a new human has come into being and is no longer a matter of taste and opinionÂ…it is plain experimental evidence." Therefore a fetus is a thinking, a moving, and a living human life that shouldn't be considered expendable. This proves that there is no difference in killing a two-day-old baby and a 20 year-old man. I find it funny that feminist activist groups, while they strongly support a woman's right to choose, are depriving the rights of 80,000 females at the same time.
