Abortion In Action
Society does not need more children; but it does need more loved children. Quite literally, we cannot afford
unloved children - but we pay heavily for them every day. There should not be the slightest communal concern when
a woman elects to destroy the life of her thousandth-of-an-ounce embryo. But all society should rise up in alarm when
it hears that a baby that is not wanted is about to be born. ~Garrett Hardin. Few issues are as controversial or inspire
such intense emotion as abortion. Many, if not most, people have a stand on abortion.Shouldn't anyone
(whether 'pro-choice' or 'pro-life') learn about abortion before making up their mind? The choice of abortion should be entirely
up to the parents of the child. The choice should only be made after much thought and consideration. In the end, if the parents
decides to abort the unborn child then they should have the support of the community, instead of being looked down upon for
doing the necessary thing. It is much better for an unwanted child to be aborted clearly before any actual life is harmed, than
for a child to be born into society unwanted as well as unloved.
According to the Center for Disease Control cited in the MMWR, Nov.29, 2002 vol51 No55-9: 58% of all abortions take
place in the first 8 weeks. Looking at these statistics, it is evident that most of all abortions take place well before any signs of
human actvity has developed in the embryo.
