Abraham And Isaac
Abraham and Isaac: Parallel between Old Covenant and New Covenant
One of the most familiar stories of obedience in the Old Testament is the story of Abraham and Isaac. To test Abraham's fear of the Lord, God asked Abraham to take his son Isaac to the land of Moriah and offer him as a burnt offering. In the end, God spared his son because of Abraham's great obedience. Broken down into details, this story actually lines up in many ways with the idea of our Messiah dying for our sins. (Genesis 3:2) God knew that Abraham loved his son with all of his heart. The same thing happened in the New Testament. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life." (John 3:16) This says that Jesus Christ was the one and only...
