In the world today there are so many issues and problems. Some of these cause death to other people, or death to yourself. As a world culture we all have a responsibility to watch out for and to help each other survive, we must co-exist on this one planet with as little death and disease as possible. Throughout the years many people have ignored the impact AIDS has had on the world. Many people barely even recognize how AIDS affects many peoples everyday lives. In the world today there are an estimate 39.5 million people living with AIDS worldwide. That means that there is a good probability that someone you have encountered in your life has AIDS. It is so easy to prevent the spread of AIDS, and people barely take the time to notice that they too can help. All it really takes is for you to go to your local doctor and get tested. It takes maybe 20 minutes of your time, but it could also save someone’s life.
Many people have the common misconception that AIDS is only a sexually transmitted disease. This is not true, AIDS can be transmitted in many different ways. If you have a cut or an open wound and a person with AIDS has a cut, if their blood makes contact and gets into your wound you can get AIDS. Also if you have an open sore in your mouth and you kiss someone with AIDS you can contract it. That is why it is so important for people to be aware and get tested for STD’s and to use protection. You have to know your partner and what is going on with them in order to keep yourself safe. This is also very important because if you know you have AIDS and do not tell your   partner and the contract AIDS, you can be held legally responsible. This happened to a guy that I knew and they charged him with manslaughter because he was negligent in informing his partner that he had AIDS.
