Throughout America's history, America has faced many difficult and serious choices. One of which is going to war. This choice has been made for a variety of reasons, such as freedom, land, or the nation's own safety. The Civil War and Revolutionary War are the two battles in which America would be most different if the outcome had gone the other way.

The Revolutionary War took place between 1775 and 1783. As indicated in Document 1, America decided to begin this war to over throw the King of Britain as the head of the colonies and form their own union. On July 4, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was signed, which granted America freedom from England if they won the war. In 1783, Britain surrendered and America obtained independence from England.
