One step into her office and I felt a wave of relaxation roll over my whole body to unwind and every muscle. Soothing warm vanilla sugar scent, dim lights, low flickering candles, and the soft calming nature sounds make up the tranquil environment of Coleen Lang’s Massage Therapy office. All of these factors are very important when it comes to the relaxed environment that makes Massage Therapy something that could resolve your stress.
She started by showing me the five different rooms that she had. All the rooms that I walked into had a different scent to it, all of which were incredible. Every room had a different theme to it too. One was like a Japanese Garden with colors of black, red and white and it had futuristic design couches and fuzzy carpets. Another had a beach/paradise theme with sand, and blue colors, as well as calm colored furniture. It was very interesting to see the special oils and scents that each room used such as Japanese Cherry Blossom, Lavender, and even Cotton Blossom. It was like they were creating a relaxing scene that would help get into the relaxation a lot better. “It helps the clients feel more stress-free when they can think they are away from work and stress and can picture themselves in a peaceful environment” (Colleen Lang)
When asked about her favorite aspect of being a Massage Therapist she replied, “I get to be in a stress free zone every day. What more can I ask for?” She pointed to a poster on the front wall of the office that had a red smiley face with steam coming out of the sides. There was an X going through it, and with big bold black letters it said “STRESS FREE ZONE.” She chuckled and then went on to say how pleased she felt by making people feel good.
People walked in all tense and sad looking, but sure enough, when they walked out they appeared more relaxed and had smiles on their faces. “I just like the fact that I am doing something to help these people live their lives with less...
