Department Goals
I have reviewed the paper which you attached to your last memo, and I found the piece quite interesting. It is also just what we need at the time we are outlining department goals. First I would like to commend you on noting your interns essay, which I think is a good one.
The essay on emotional intelligence, is a true representations on how times have changed.. Gone are the days when employees were employed based on just academic degrees.. As a result of the essay , I did some research on ‘emotional intelligence’. There seemed to be an extensive amount of information out there, concerning emotional intelligence. As with everything, there were critiques of emotional intelligence as well as those who were for it.
Here is my take on it, I think it is safe to say that every time we communicate with one another, emotions come to play , generally.. As a result of this , I support the argument for emotional intelligence which is: people or companies who adopt this concept become successful in the long run.. I also noticed that there are tests done to show the level of an individual’s emotional intelligence..
I would like for us to take the concept of emotional intelligence up, and watch to see if there are any major changes in our department. I am going to continue my research on this, and I would ask of you to do the same. At our next meeting we can discuss ways in which to implement this new idea.
I would definitely like to discuss this idea further with you, next week Monday 9:00 am in my office.
