“The Awakening”
“The Awakening” is an inspirational poem written by an unknown author. This poem describes a time in a person’s life when their personal views on the world begin to change. After experiencing The Awakening, a person learns to appreciate the good things in life, without complaints or regret; but most importantly, The Awakening is a turning point in someone’s life when they truly learn to accept themselves for who they really are.
“The Awakening” describes many inspirational and thought-provoking phrases; as is the following quote: “There aren’t always fairy tale endings.”   This quote makes a person think about how they’re achieving their goals and dreams; are they wishing for something to happen? Merely hoping for something wonderful to occur?   After experiencing The Awakening, a person can clearly recognize the differences between planning for great things to fall on your lap, versus the courage necessary to take the action to accomplish their goals.
Another memorable message in “The Awakening” is, “You begin to accept others for who they are.” For example, many people push others away with hostility, negativity, and often without acceptance of differences. However, in reality, it’s likely these people are deeply insecure with themselves. Once a person realizes they have flaws but can accept themselves anyway, they can begin to become more accepting of their peers as well. This kind of acceptance helps us move away from hatred and discrimination that almost every teen experiences at one point or another.
One phrase from “The Awakening” that really represented the strong message the author is trying to send, is used in this quote, “Now, you can stand on your own.”   Simple as it is, this quote is totally relatable.
