The United States of America has wonderful schools, why change them? The U.S. has operated under a traditional school system for hundreds of years and has produced some of the most intelligent minds. The U.S. is still one of the top nations and one of the most powerful. The United States is rated the fourth highest nation in the world for schooling. Now many of our U.S. schools are changing to a year-round school system.  
    A common belief that year-round school systems have no practical effect on education is an argument held by believers of the traditional school system. An argument for year-round schools tout a higher level of learning. Studies have shown exactly the opposite if not the same levels of learning. No evidence exists that shows academic scores are higher as a result of being in a year-round school system. If anything year-round schooling can have a negative impact on learning. A method that is popular with year-round schools, use is the 45-15 method. The 45-15 method consists of school for 45 days preceded by 15 days off. These transitions have the potential of interfering with the learning process. These facts alone have prompt some schools to switch back from year-round school to a traditional school system. According to the Summer Matters Reject list, studies have shown that 95% of schools since 1980 have used the year-round school system but have ended up returning to a traditional school system. This information alone is more than enough to declare that no real necessity for change exist.
    Traditional school calendars are also preferred over year-round calendars because traditional school calendars are much more cost effective. Just like many other facilities in order to keep them open it requires money. A school is no different and requires much of the same types of financing. Sometimes a larges amount of money.
