Born on the Fourth of July

Born on the Fourth of July is a film about the life of Ron Kovic, one of thousands of Vietnam veterans. Ron was a gung-ho American teenager who was eager to fight communism in Vietnam he returned as a disheveled handicapped veteran. Oliver Stone portrays the truths of the horrible war; he depicts the killing of innocent civilians, friendly fire, a divided America and the destruction of a generation of men.
Ron Kovic grew up in a small All-American town, everyone thought highly of him; he did well in sports, worked a family owned grocery store and wanted to join the marines to make his parents proud. In the beginning of the film Ron is portrayed as well to do, ordinary and patriotic, he is a teenager with a normal life. He has a crush that he struggles to make contact with until he finally storms into the prom and dances with her. Oliver Stone throws Ron Kovic the normal American......
