Broca's Brain

This Book is divided into several distinctive sections. The most prominent three are The Paradoxers, The Future, and Ultimate Questions. Each of the three along with several other sections combine to challenge the way we look at our lives, our religions, and science. Sagan causes the reader to consider questions such as, "Are we alone in this universe?" Initially, Sagan even challenges the beliefs of religious people by explaining away God with a loose use of scientific method. By the end of the book he reexamines the same issues with the conclusion that there must be a God.
The first section of the book that I would like to examine is the Paradoxers. This section talks mainly about whether there is or is not life outside of earth. Sagan says despite all the reported sightings and alleged abductions there has been no hard proof gathered that proves aliens really exist. He also says many of the sightings can be explained as new kinds of aircraft being seen or just an airplane with an unusual lighting pattern. Sagan never ruled out the possibility that life exists on other planets he just does not believe that they have visited Earth.
The next section I would like to explore is The Future. This section talks about the evolution of transportation. In the beginning it talks about how we could only go as fast as our feet would carry us and the desire to move was only because we needed food. He then writes about how the invention of the car eventually led to the invention of the rocket, which led to us landing on the moon and gave us a desire to go to other planets. Sagan expresses in this section his concern that our supply of fossil fuels will be depleted but feels sure we will come up with alternate sources of fuel. He theorized that one day we would travel to mars using for propulsion a special kind of sail that catches and uses solar wind as propulsion.
