Explain an example of WU Wei in nature or in your own life, or how a situation may benefit from the application of Wu Wei.
There is a proverb that we often hear which is “All sunshine makes a desert.” This explains that unnecessary act results worse situation, and that is exactly what Wu Wei says. Wu Wei is an important tenet of Taoism that means the ideal of effortlessness. The aim of Wu Wei is to do something from nature. Nature works to accomplish only what is necessary, but no more. Wu Wei emphasizes the importance of no stain, and doing only what comes spontaneously and naturally.
We can see many negative results from unnecessary act everywhere. People invented many things for conveniences, and everything seems just fine. But In fact, we have suffered from air pollution and global warming. Also because of deforesters to construct unnecessary houses, tunnels, and golf courses, lung of the earth has been destroyed. The Iraq war that broke out under the motto of peace produced worse problems such as terrors which seem endless now.
All of examples above have in common. Anything came out of artificial effort of people resulted something worse which is against Wu Wei. Personally, whenever I do something reluctantly, it gets worse. For example, one day, I was so busy to do something. That time, someone asks me a favor and I could not refuse it even if I was not able to do it. Why did I not refuse it? I might not want to hurt someone’s feeling and would think that I could do everything. As a result, He would blame me because I broke my word with him, and I felt bad for him and myself. However, it would keep happening to me unless I change the pattern.
For those of us who struggle for exceeding results should pay attention to Wu Wei which is the way nature works. In fact, I did not need to worry about everything that time. I should simply have followed my mind which is nature in my body. If they know Wu Wei, they would stop acting to get more and more because...
