Can We Overcome Sin?
Can we overcome sin? Sin is a terrible plague. It covers our lives and many times causes great pains and tribulations. We try harder and harder to overcome and yet we can't seem to break the bad habit. Some people believe that we will never be able to stop sinning and that we will continue to sin until Christ comes. Others, however, hold the position that sin can be conquered and that God's law can be kept. Which one of these positions is correct? The Bible supports the latter. Sinning can be overcome.
In the Bible, in John 14:15, Christ says "if ye love me, keep my commandments." The simple fact that Christ asks us to keep his commandments is evidence enough that it is possible to keep his law. This comforter, who is one with Christ, gives us the power to overcome sin.

Now the reason why we can overcome is because "greater is Jesus" that is in us, than Satan's wave of temptations. The apostle Paul's says that Christ in us is the hope of any glory or of any victory. Christ gives us the power to overcome sin. His perfect life here on earth serves as an example to us that God's law can and should be kept.
The Bible says in Revelation 12:11 God tells us that the only way to overcome sin is by the blood of the lamb. The blood of the lamb represents Christ's sacrifice on the cross. Because He died on the cross and was victorious we can also be victorious. Through Christ, overcoming sin becomes a possibility. The Bible declares in Philippians 4:13 "I can...
