Can You Hear The Music
In today's world of music it has become an issue as to whether or not the lyrics in some of today's music influences teenagers in a negative way. The most common music that promotes violence and sex is Rap or Rap Metal. The question is do the lyrics of this type of music really have an impact on how teens act. Does it make them think it is ok to act out what they are hearing in the music? They find it fascinating to listen to lyrics that are full of violence and sex. It seams to be the hottest selling music for teens. As this subject continues to be an issue the government should not only make the record companies mark the music with parental advisory labels; they should not allow the music to be played on the radio or television or sold in stores at all. Another solution could be for the parents to monitor what their children are listening to, at least when they are able to.
This type of music affects teens in several different ways, some children can listen to it and it does not affect them at all. Others listen to it and it does affect them in a different way. It seams to affect the children with low self-esteem, depression, and bitterness. They tend to relate to the lyrics of some of the songs, and it makes the teenagers think it is what they are living. It also could be that they are depressed because of situations at home at school or both. Some think that the problems they are having at home are because their parents are the worst in the world. So when they find a song that relates to their life he or she will listen to it over and over many times. The more they listen to a song the lyrics become very real to them, so real that it makes them think it is ok to do and say the things that are continually mentioned in the music. In some cases it becomes a habit.
There have been children that listen to songs about killing themselves and others so much that they act on what they are hearing in the songs. Some have actually killed them selves...
