DFS information system (Helix) is made up of two types of Information system, Transaction Processing System (TPS) and Management Information System (MIS). As indicated in case,
TPS processes the routine day-to-day business transactions while working close to customers at the operational level of organisations and performs automated repetitive information processing activities to increase the speed and accuracy and to decrease the cost of processing each transaction.
Majority of the financial sales processes (over 60%) are completed at this level. MIS enables the managers of the DFS and Dell to perform financial management and forecasting and to take decision on special cases by using the data collected by TPS.
This information system also provides real-time interface between DFS and Dell.
