As all are aware InterClean has just merged with EnviroTech and, as a result, has taken on a new strategic direction. The company will no longer sell only cleaning products, but will also provide full- service cleaning solutions for organizations in the health care industry. To this end I have developed a career plan. This plan includes a job analysis report, a workforce planning system and my selections for the new sales team.
Job Analysis
According to Cascio, “The term job analysis describes the process of obtaining information about jobs” (Cascio, 2005, p.11). The result of this process is being able to determine   job descriptions and job specifications. Today many companies focus on what is called behavioral job descriptions. “Instead of focusing on communication skills, such as writing, speaking, and making presentations, behavioral job descriptions incorporate broader behavioral statements, such as “actively listens, builds trust, and adapts his or her style and tactics to fit the audience” (Cascio, 2005, p.13). Since our health care clients are being faced with new regulations governing the maintenance of their sterile environment, actively listening, building trust and adapting will all be very important for our salespeople to be able to do.
A few popular and well used methods of job analysis that will be used are observation and interviews. Observation will provide exposure and understanding of the requirements. It is essential and necessary to rely on employees to give their own descriptions of what they do and why, rather than make assumptions. Interviews are best for this, because the worker is always their own best observer. Information can be gathered in interviews that might not be able to be obtained any other way.
