Catherine Zeta-Jones
Catherine Zeta-Jones was born on September 25th 1969 in West Glamorgan Wales. She has two brothers, but no sisters. She grew up in a working family, but always wanted to pursue an acting career. At age 11, she starred in Annie and at 14 she starred in Bugsy Malone. Both of these musicals were preformed in London.
At 15, Catherine moved to London, to pursue her acting career as a full time job. At the age of 17, she landed a role in the production, 42nd street. After performing in this play, she landed the role as Peggy Sawyer. Peggy Sawyer was a girl who sand in the chorus and then went into the acting business. But these were all on the stage. Her real acting career starting when she starred in her first film, Shereherazade.
This made her acting career take off. After that, she starred in many films in the United States and the United Kingdom. In 1991, Catherine starred in the television series Darling Buds of May, which was aired in the United Kingdom. In this television series Catherine starred as the oldest daughter of the family. After this movie, Catherine took a shot at Hollywood.
Catherine wanted to try her luck in Hollywood as well. She appeared in the miniseries The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, as well as Christopher Columbus: the Discovery, both in 1992. Both of these appearances had a big impact on Catherine's fame in Hollywood. Her next big roles were in more TV series, including The Return of the Native in 1994 and Catherine the Great in 1995. Although her television acting career was having great success, her onscreen career was not.
The film Splitting Heirs which premiered in 1993 had little success in the box office. She also starred in the movie Blue Juice in 1995, which went straight to video.
