As an esthetician you will come across a variety of clients with many different skin types and conditions.   However, before analyzing your client’s skin and beginning the actual   treatment, it is vital that you get a comprehensive history of your new client to be able to better address any problems and   issues from occurring.  

This client chart is a very useful and necessary tool that will help you avoid costly mistakes and prevent unhappy clients.   Many years ago, an esthetician working for a friend of mine who had a salon, was   in a hurry, did not ask the many details needed to understand her client’s skin; consequently, she used a product containing peanut oil in her treatment.   Allergic to peanuts, the client had a very bad reaction and you can only imagine the problems this caused for both the client,   the esthetician and the salon!

I have found that clients today are more sensitive and have more allergies that years ago . I believe that as our environment is more polluted, our food I contains large percentages of chemicals and hormones, and even our water supply has traces of medicines such as antidepressants, hormones and antibiotics our systems are not able to come. Therefore we see more redness, sensitivities   and unexplained irritations.   For this reason our job to clean and maintain the skin is no longer a luxury it is a necessity as the skin cannot cope on its own.
This extra sensitivity aggravates existing conditions by sometimes masking symptoms, making analysis of the skin difficult.
Therefore the information we get from the clients even before looking at their skin will allow us to look art the skin differently, making our analysis more comprehensive.
