A Child Called It

The book A Child Called "it" by David Pelzer is a book that will deeply impact the life of any human being who comes across it. In this book a young boy goes from having the picture perfect family to having to deal with an alcoholic mother, who abuses him. His struggle to stay alive is inspiring. Ones boy's courage and will keep going when all people keep doing is bringing him down are fascinating.

Dave is the main character in the story. He starts off as a young boy who loves his family very much. His most favorite thing in the world is to go on camping trips with his mother his father and two brothers. He pictures his mom as a perfect mother and his father as a hero. He has to try and search for food to stay alive. He figures out ways to beat his mother at her own mind games. He is extremely intelligent because in order to stay alive from his mother's horrible beatings he had to think of ways to beat her. His strength and hope kept him alive.

Dave's mother is the second main character in the book. The book doesn's mention her name. At the beginning she is the perfect homemaker wife. She always has her best clothes on and her make-up done. She loves cooking and traveling with her family. As soon as her and her husband start having marriage problems she soon turns into a mean evil person. She takes her anger out on her youngest son Dave. Her mind became evil creating ways to torturing her son. Not having no remorse for the chikld she tells him that he is an "it" that's how low he is. She is the true villian in the book.

The beginning of the book takes place with Dave telling the reader about his favorite camping trip. He talks about how much he loves when his family spends time together and how perfect his family seems to be. He adores his mom and his dad is his hero. His mom loves taking the boys on day trips when the dad is at work and the holidays are ther favorite time of the year.Then Dave's mom and dad start...
