China And Internet

China and Internet.

Since the middle of the years 1990, the exponential growth of the number of users, quantity of data and services on line and the extension to the remainder of the world posed new challenges in term of regulation of the Internet.
This ongoing expansion has fed power rivalries between Internet and governing organizations, national governments, online communities and merchants. It has also been perceived as powerful tools by minority groups eager to get their voice.

Faced with that phenomenal growth, the Chinese authorities have managed to shut down political opposition and control Internet content.
The government practices at the same time a filtering of information to the source, which is based on the technological and political collaboration of foreign companies forced to yield with the local rules to make deals, police is monitoring the exchange and a self-censorship stimulated by a severe legislation and a repression.

The Internet censorship is well known outside China as the “Great Firewall of China” or “The Golden Shield Project”
