Christians Today Are Not Prepared To Suffer As Jesus Did
So far in my coursework I have looked at the ways in which the first Christians were persecuted and how they were given encouragement by the early church. The issue of weather Christians today are prepared to suffer like Jesus did is an easy one.
I think that Christians today are probably not prepared for persecution as Jesus was 2000 years ago. Mostly in Nigeria, China even turkey would just bang on the door and search your whole house and normally torture you whole family if they find a simple bible in your house! But if it were me, I wouldn’t be prepared, mostly because I am non-catholic but also I wouldn’t like to die.
I also think that some Christians in some countries are probably too scared to follow their faith as a Christian like Jesus did, because I think of being scared of the armed forces coming into their own homes and taking the whole family away, which Jesus did none of this, instead he stood up to his faith but really he had to do it to be the saviour of us today.
But on the other hand I think some people that are Christians in some countries are prepared to die for their religion. We see this in 2006, an Afghan named Abdul Rahman was threatened by alkaieyda to become an Islam but he stood by being a Christian and he now has load of death threats, mostly off the Taliban, but he says “I am prepared to die for the Christian belief but I will only do it in the act of god”, this got him even more death threats and this shows that a person will die for his beliefs.
Well, in addition to that, we see Christians being prepared to follow Jesus’ example because they will feel very strong about their religion, such as priests and worshippers that live in Jerusalem or a very religious place will be prepared to die like Jesus showed us. This is because they see Jesus a supreme leader and that he is the answer to everything.
After looking at both sides of the argument I can see that most Christians are prepared...
