Introduction
This report aims to provide a basic understanding of Case Study C – The Clothing Company. It outlines the background of the case, the Clothing Company’s existing aim, current culture and environment and the problems faced by the company that require organisational change and development. The report then moves on to answer the review questions for the case as well as provide our aim and purpose as a group analysing the case. Finally, the report details the main recommendations posed for each of the major problems previously defined and the limitations to those recommendations.
Background:
The Clothing Company (CC) was founded in Australia in the 1960’s by two Aussie Surfers with a focus on work/life balance. It has grown to become a multi-national company with operations in Australia, Asia-Pacific, USA & Europe. In recent years the company has undergone a change of ownership which has seen its workforce grow rapidly in numerous divisions such as: management; design; manufacturing; distribution and retail.
The rapid expansion of its existing products and markets along with the acquisitions of other organisations in related areas has forced the organisation to change. Other reasons for change include but are not limited to globalisation, technology advances and management initiative.
Existing aim
The Clothing Company prides itself on its innovative products, events and retail environments across the globe.
Current culture
The Clothing Company is focused on maintaining staff flexibility; a diverse workforce and equal employment all while keeping a carefree attitude.
Current environment
The fashion industry is highly competitive due to the ever increasing number of new products and labels entering the market. The Clothing Company must ensure innovation, quality and low costs in order to remain a leading label.
