THE COTTAGE BESIDE THE CHÂTEAU
Vehicles rolled by with the sounds like rumbling, swooshing, breaking waves on the beaches of fairer lands. Or so it seemed as cars cruised by at irregular intervals that yet managed to evoke a steady rhythm. Sometimes they came in large groups of mixed whooshes and sometimes in singular unidirectional swishes, like skipping winds across the autumn tree tops. Dixie Highway this highway ran from the frozen frigid northern breaches of Ontario, Canada and needled its way into the tropical sun bathed beaches of Florida City, Florida in the southward reaches. Rich with history and with stories of countless years to tell, this river of tar and concrete threaded its way across the crossroads of America. And I spotted one of those tales in Dayton, Ohio on the Dixie Highway.
A distinctive sight to behold stood there on its banks. On one end was an imposing château of stone and history and tradition and all things old and grand and splendid. A tower half......
