The Police are important sectors in the community as they help in the administration of criminal justice system. Without the involvement of police officers, criminal justice will not be able to help or serve the people. The purpose of criminal justice is the pursuit of a public service. As officers of justice, every police officer should render services requiring the knowledge and application of laws and other legal principles to serve the interest of the public. They must not only in fact be of good moral character but must also be seen in the public to be of good moral character and leading their lives in accordance with the highest moral standards required for them.

Police officers have different roles in the community depending on what position he/she is employed. Their only aim is to have peace and order in the community where they belong. They believe that character is as important as technical skills. Their biggest challenge is morality on their job. Police officers are expected to know the laws and how to apply it. The dangerous part of their job is attending emergent situations. When they are on call, they are expected to be on time. They must be honest and punctual. They must be fearless. “The science is worthless without the courage and integrity to apply it.”

Community policing requires efficient and effective styles: legalistic style, watchman style and service style of policing. Legalistic Style is “a style of policing marked by a strict concern with enforcing the precise letter of the law. Legalistic departments may take a hands-off approach to disruptive or problematic behavior that does not violate the criminal law” (cjnowonline.com). This style of policing requires a universal standard. Policing is highly professionalized. It is committed to apply or enforce the laws through the arrest of violators, issuing summons, search and seizure, detention, questioning of victims and suspects and examination of witnesses....
