Arthur Miller's The Crucible is the classic tragic play. It has a well-respected hero, John Proctor, who falls from grace due to a flaw of his own. The production of The Crucible by Boston College was overall pretty good, although not perfect by any means. Plays were written to teach and to entertain. I don't think the Boston College production of The Crucible was written so much to entertain as it was to teach, namely regarding mass hysteria. In portraying its message about the human capacity for mass hysteria, the production succeeded. Overall, I enjoyed the play and think it accomplished what it set out to do.
The Robsham Theatre was a fun and enjoyable place to watch a play. It's not too big and not too small, and upon observing a play here one feels a very positive, warm atmosphere. It was interesting to see how the set design worked out; seeing it a month ago when we visited the theatre, it was hard to imagine. The boards on the sides of the stage......
