Curriculum Trends
We all have our own envisions of what technology in the classroom should be like. Maybe, you think of something out of the Jetsons, or maybe you picture a classroom with a tele-teacher rather than a real one. No matter what you think, chances are these thoughts are only dreams (or hopes depending upon the teacher), but they don’t have to be.
My idea of classroom technology is probably alike with others in that it, it probably involves a computer for each student. Our school should utilize the uses of technology by converting our education system from books and paper to wireless laptops and thumb drives. However in order for this to happen they need to hear our voices. It’s time for a revolution, in school that is. Call it a technological revolution, or call it kids for computers, it doesn’t really matter what it’s called as long as you know its happening.
Schools have failed to realize that technology is no longer a luxury, it is a necessity. School, the very place that is supposed to prepare us for our jobs is failing miserably at theirs. Technology will be used whether you work at NASA or McDonalds. Still schools don’t provide us with the tools to succeed in this dog-eat-dog world.
Computers can be used as tools to create instructional materials or as presentation devices to provide information in ways never before possible. "Students can find strong motivation in the feeling that they are in control of their own learning" says Arone & Grabowski, two authorities in psychological studies.
Furthermore, as a teacher, technology will always be a part of my classroom. All the kids I teach will have the same chance to expand their minds by using technology. They will all be using different kinds of technology because in my classroom I am not going to label the curriculum to using just one type of technology.
