Mastering A Skill
When asked what skills I believe everyone would benefit from I would choose Communication. There are many different forms of communication. The forms of communication that will be a focus are writing, public speaking and listening skills. These particular skills listed are basically used all the time and in everyday life. Weather there at used home, school or on the job, we all could brush up a little on the skills we think we already know.
The first example is writing; when I say writing I mean all writing. In today’s society we write everything. When learning this skill you learn how to write reports, speeches, and simple stories. You learn about drafts, revision, and final edits. Writing isn’t just putting some words down on paper and calling it a day. When learning skills for writing, you learn many different things, such as what the words tone, audience, structure and purpose as well. Learning skills with writing communication also allows people to learn more about grammar and when and where you should put certain words or phrases. Places that people would be able to use writing skills at would be writing e-mails, letters, if a person is in school you would uses these skills for contacting your professors. I think that people that have already accomplished this skill would be a person that is a writer. For example Stephen King, He didn’t get where he is today by just knowing the basics. A journalist would also be a person that would already have excellent skills in writing as well. For a journalist they also have to acquire another skill as well. Another skill would be listening skills.
Listening skills is also a skill that we could all use as well. There are many reasons that somebody including myself would want to improve their listening skills.
