Decisions in Paradise Paper, Part 1
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is the second largest and most versatile agency within the Department of Homeland Security. Our mission is to protect, the U.S. homeland by keeping the terrorists and their weapons out of the country. We provide a unique menu of services, which includes securing and smoothing the progress of legitimate trade and travel while enforcing hundreds of U.S. regulations, including immigration and drug laws. Other services we offer are collecting customs duties, exercise taxes, and fees on imported goods, which is a chief source of income for the U.S. Government. Our 0rganizational processes, human resources, and ethics are the mainstays of our organization, and will provide a formidable presence on the island country of Kava (CBP, 2008).
Our organization believes the issues facing Kava are multifaceted, and aren’t unique. Many countries are facing similar issues as they try to grapple with economic globalization, diversity in the workplace, natural disasters, soaring energy cost, deep-rooted poverty, internal social strife, complex ethical dilemmas, and a mushrooming youth population.
