Decisions In Paradise Part Iii
Introduction
Even though Sun International (SI) is a large corporation with resorts and casinos located all over the world, the decision to expand our presence onto the South Pacific island of Kava will present many challenges and opportunities. Developing a resort and casino on the island of Kava will require SI to make a commitment towards making a difference in the lives of the island people. SI will also need to work in conjunction with the government in order to bring tourism and prosperity back to the island of Kava.
Implementation
In my previous status update there were four major factors (technology, company image, environment, and health) associated with building on the island of Kava. After receiving feedback from the stakeholders on the status update, it was determined that other factors (multi-culture, ethnicity, language, and religions) need to be considered in our implementation plan.
Technology
Our IT department has begun wiring for our telecommunication and network needs. Our IT department is also working with the government in Kava in order to establish IT capabilities throughout the island. The network will accessible to all new structures built, as well as already existing government offices. There is an abundance of inexpensive, quality labor on the island. These workers will enable us to keep costs down. We will also bring in trainers to train the workers on the installation and wiring for telecommunications.
Company Image and Ethics
Some of the concerns our stakeholders shared with us had to do with our company image and ethical implications. While building in such a devastated region might be viewed as risky by outsiders, we believe the island of Kava presents a unique opportunity to expand our business, and help the people of Kava recover and prosper.
