Decisions in Paradise: Part 1
In order for the new business to be successful, there are some things that must be considered first. In order for my organization to establish a greater presence in Kava, what may be some issues or obstacles that must be overcome to be successful? The issues or obstacles will be defined, as well as their relevance to key stakeholders impacted by the decisions made.
Some issues that appear include location with limited resources, and fifty percent of the population is under the age of 15 years of age. There are apparent disaster threats that include hurricane, tsunami, earthquakes, typhoons, and floods. These types of natural disasters cannot be control, or predicted in enough time to change any outcome that could result and potential hurt or destroy our presence in Kava. Each form of has varying degrees of impact business operations. Hurricanes are the most destructive force causing power failure, flooding, customer loss, and the closure of many businesses. Following the devastation of a disaster, a business has several challenging decisions for disaster recovery to make.
There is also the threat of disease and infection. Within and around Kava, there is a constant threat of terrorism. Ambassador Francis Taylor (2002) stated” terrorism raises the risk and cost of doing business, whether that business is diplomacy, manufacturing, or sales.” Many of the forces involved with potential problems in establishing a stronger presence in Kava are things out of the control of one person, or the company as a whole. With any company it would be discouraging to see some many obstacles standing in the way of the organizations success. Identifying the issues helps formulation solutions.
