Divorces, child support, unwanted kids, abortions, sexually transmitted diseases, and getting married at a young age. Many families are affected by one of more of the previous events. In Kentucky the youngest age for marriage is eighteen unless an adult approves of it. Changing the law to getting married at the youngest would be 21 years of age. This may tremendously prevent many of the above events.
The divorce rate has increased tremendously over the past couple of years. About fifty percent of all marriages in America end in divorce. On estimate the marriages that end in divorce for people under 20 for women is twenty seven point six percent and for men is eleven point seven percent. When a person gets married the vows they recite are: I take you to be my wedded spouse. To have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness, or in health, to love and to cherish ‘till death do us part. When you get married you pledge to that person your love ‘till death do you part. People get married when they are too young and immature. Half of the time when people get married, they don’t truly love that person.
Many people get married three and four times. Some people have children with two and three different people. According to Jennifer Baker of the Forest Institute of Professional Psychology in Springfield, Missouri, fifty percent of first marriages end in divorce, sixty seven percent of second marriages end in divorce, and seventy four percent of third marriages end in divorce.
When a couple gets divorced the people that suffer the most are their children. I know people who live with their mom during the week, and go to their dad’s house on the weekends. They have two rooms in two different houses. The children have to suffer from their parents mistakes. Parents can go to counseling to work out their problems.
