Managers are in contact with various people, to inform and be informed, and are in action and make decision.
The approach proposed by Fayol in the principle of Discipline is very interesting since it is based on the author's experience, who collects, throughout all his years of work, a very good concept of the workers.
Planning.
For example President Satoru Anzaki, the leader of manufacturing construction equipment and heavy machinery, announced a long-range plan called G 2000, which includes moving the company into high-tech initiatives such as lasers and 3D software (Komatsu, 1997).
“Good planning involves understanding the enterprise’s environment and how it is changing, forecasting changes as best as you can, and considering how to position the enterprise to make its offerings attractive “(Samson & Daft, 2005).
Organising
For example Honeywell’s managers reorganised new product development staff into ‘tiger teams’ consisting of marketing, engineering and design employees. The new structural design reduced the time required to produce a new thermostat from four years to 12 months (Bussey & Sease, 1998).
Leading
Means creating a shared culture and values, communicating goals to employees throughout the organisation and infusing employees with the desire to perform at a high level. Leading involves motivating entire departments and divisions as well as those individuals working immediately with the manager.
Controlling
Making corrections as necessary.
