Donate and Make a Difference
Hunger as we know is a desire to eat. It also means extreme poverty where individuals or families can not afford food. In Jordan the percentage of poverty has increased. There are 770 thousand citizens who live below the poverty line. As humans that feel with other humans and as citizens that were fortunate, we have to step out and reach out our hands to those that are less fortunate. There are several ways and means of supporting and helping but the most common and efficient way is by donating money, and food supplies.
It has been established that people who live below the poverty line are divided into three categories: poverty, middle poverty, and severe poverty. Citizens that suffer of severe poverty were estimated around 14%, and each year studies are showing that this figure is increasing. Stating such humanitarian issue in figures doesn’t not really reflect the real emotional and sentimental suffering that these people go through. Poverty has multidimensional effects other than being perceived from a monetary perspective. Poor families have to save the small amount of money they make to afford the basic needs of life; which is food. With such small amount of money these families do not have the privilege to buy luxurious food items; instead they can only buy the essential and necessary items that would only keep them alive for the next days to come. Such items are bread, water and sugar.
As I mentioned earlier, there are many interventions that a person, organization or community can make to help and aid people who are in need of such supplies. Donating money or food is the most common approach that has direct effect. By doing so, it will help poor families save money for funding other important life necessities such as shelter, education fees and medical supplies for their families.
