Abstract
The statistics for divorce suggest that nearly sixty percent of marriages end in divorce. If there are children involved, the assumption can be made that many children will experience some effects. What about divorce causes negative consequences for children? How will children be effected? Will they be expressed outwardly? In this paper, attempts are made to find the explain the answer to these psychological questions.

The Negative Effects of Divorce on Children
Divorce is the partial or total dissolution of a marriage. It is a major life stressor and is a lengthy process which often results in long-term emotional and psychological damage to children. In modern-day living, divorce has become more and more common, leaving 50% of children growing up in a single parent environment.
Many psychologist have conducted research on the negative effects of divorce on children. Psychologist Judith Wallerstein, did a ten-year study on divorced families, she says that the pain of divorce is not transient for children and the trauma haunts them into adulthood. It becomes, "the single most important cause of enduring pain and anomie in their lives."( J. Wallerstein)
Method
Participants
Five high school students ranging in age, were surveyed in their experience with divorce. The students were broken up into two groups. Group A, is students who experienced divorce during their infant - toddler years. Group B, is students who have experienced divorce during their preteen -adolescent years. Two female students were in Group A and two female, one male students were in Group B.
