The ability to manage conflict is a significant cleverness in the workplace, and has been identified as a core experience for leaders and managers of all altitude. It is inconsistent, therefore, companies tend to hesitate to invest time and money in improving employees' conflict management abilities when the cost of conflict in financial and other terms can be vast.” Conflict is viewed by many as an inevitable part of life (Pammer, Killian & Pammer, 2003). Many people engage in conflict at the workplace and on the home front. They may have to deal with difficult people, or perhaps they have a negative attitude and so they attract difficulty. In any event, conflict is often found in a variety of environments. On the other hand, conflict is not always a negative thing. Everyone brings his or her own ideas to the table. The end result will probably be better if a conflict erupted at the start of a meeting, for example. Conflict can prompt creativity as people think about and discuss solutions to a problem from different points of view. In some way, conflict is inevitable, but it is not always negative. However, conflict may be indicative of something quite dark and challenging. When there is much conflict, and things turn violent, peacemaking is something that should be at the forefront of the situation in the context of conflict resolution.
