Escape Into The Music

A mixture of rhymes and sounds fill my head. With one simple stroke, my mind can escape into a world full of constant beats, and eloquent rhythms. I believe everyone deserves something that will take them away into a place where what they are going through goes away. In my world, there is only me and hand carved block of wood. Together, we escape into the music.
Five years ago, I woke up an eager sixth grader, waiting to see what music day would bring me. The moment my teacher handed me the class rental, my heart beat with excitement. I had watched those girls in the orchestra on the television playing, making those sounds with ease, and I knew I could be one of them, if given the chance. Here it was, old, chipped, and gloss rubbed off on more than half its body, but to me, it was priceless.
My first concert was held on Christmas in the middle of the local mall. I was nervous, staring off into the crowd. My anxiousness only increased when I noticed my mother looking directly at me; I could not let her down. I knew these songs all from memory and had practiced them countless times in the previous months. When the conductor raised his wand my heart sunk to my stomach. I took a deep breath and took the first stroke of the bow, and with it all my worries and fear left, taking me into its sound.
It was then I realized that I not only had a want to play the violin, but I had a passion to do so. The violin became my escape from the world. Anytime I began to play, I always fell into the song, letting it take me into its story. My song book became an this enchanting world, where I could go, and my life’s problems could not follow. I would run from my bus stop, violin in hand, sprinting to get inside to rehearse the newest song, retelling the story the composer intended the violin to share.
