Ethical Perspectives
Moral perspectives are taught throughout life. Children are taught the difference between right and wrong, good or bad, evil and nice. Moral teachings as a child develop the ideal of a consequence or reward system for the decision made. These teachings generally come from the home, the church or the culture raised in. As a child develops into adolescence then into adulthood, moral teachings remain intact. The knowledge of what is right and wrong, good or bad and evil or nice never leaves, but the use of those teachings will be altered by society. Society plays a large part on what is acceptable at the time. Generations change and so do the beliefs of those generations.
I live my life by the belief that every member of society should be a contributing member. As a person, if one is able to work, that person in some form or fashion must contribute to society. Do not be part of the problem, be part of the solution. In the year 2008, every individual is afforded the same rights and opportunities as the next person if he sets his sights forward and has a desire to succeed. Members of society have a right to live in peace and be secure in their homes and with their possessions. Leave people alone. Do not steal what is not yours. Earn what is wanted in life and if that cannot be achieved, what is wanted is not needed. People work hard for their possessions and hanging out at the mailbox on the first and the 15th of the month does not constitute earning a paycheck.
Under the ethical awareness inventory, I fall under the CORE value of obligation. The characteristics of this value follow my beliefs closely. My belief of every member of society must be a contributing member falls within this perspective. As a member of society, one has an obligation to contribute to the fullest potential.
