BENEFITS OF EXERCISING FOR PEOPLE WITH ASTHMA
1.) Increased cardio-respiratory Fitness
- There is often a misperceived conception in asthma condition that regular exercise has adverse effect on the lung function.

2.) Reduced Perception of Breathlessness and Anxiety about Physical Activity
- Regular exercise strengthens the respiratory muscles, and in turn reduces the perception of breathlessness. Research suggests that typically a fit person with asthma are more persistent, energized, and better cope with anxiety.
- The general health benefits of regular exercise are important for the management of asthma. Clients should not be restricted in wanting to participate in regular physical activity.

3.) May Alleviate Asthma Symptoms
-The fear of breathlessness inhibits many clients with asthma from taking part in physical activities. A low level of regular physical activity in turn leads to a low level of physical fitness.
- Low level of physical fitness may mentally and physically intensify the severity of asthma symptoms such as breathlessness, cough or chest tightness.
- EIA is less easily triggered when you are fit than when you are unfit. Exercising can improve your heart and lung fitness. Thus, clients may decrease the need or use of inhaled and oral steroids.
