Existance Of God
The Argument from Design is related to the teleological argument of the existence of God. In its basic form, this argument infers from the intelligent order and created beauty of the universe that there is an intelligent designer and creator of the universe. The most famous is William Paley’s account of the watch, which can be surmised as follows: the universe is an ordered place, analogous to a mechanism (like a watch), ordered mechanisms (like a watch) require a creator; therefore, the universe must have a creator. Identified throughout this composition will be validations why the analogy for the existence of god, evolution and religion, play such important elements in the case opposed to the teleological argument.
On commencement since the argument from design is one of analogy, the strength or weakness of the analogy will determine the soundness of the argument. The strength of the analogy is determined by the amount of similarities between the analogies. The fewer the similarities, the weaker the argument, the greater the similarities, the more potent the argument. “If God intends to create a universe that contains living beings at some stage in its history, then there is no reason for him to begin the universe with an inherently unpredictable singularity. Indeed it is positively irrational. It is a sign of incompetent planning to create as the first natural state something that requires immediate supernatural intervention to ensure that it leads to the desired result. The rational thing to do is to create some state that by it’s own lawful nature leads to a life producing universe.” (Craig, 1993: Pg202-203) In conjunction to support the foundation against the existence of God are seven analogies proposed by Tod Billings (President of the Arkansas Society of Freethinkers) on the issues concerning artefacts (man-made objects), supernatural and the immortality of God, and how these directly conflict with Paley’s watch analogy. They can...
