HUMILITY

What experiences in your life have helped and currently helping you learn humility?

People go through experiences in their lives that changes them either for the good or the bad. Father in Heaven has created this world with different cultures, people, countries, even characters. It’s the variety that makes the world an interesting place. Every person deals with their problems based on their personal reaction to it. I have been through much in my life and some of those experiences has taught me to be a little more smarter or a little more brave, but the experiences that I feel most deeply about has taught me to be humble.

When I was about four or five, my sister was hit by a speeding truck. It was a very difficult time for my family especially for my parents. Sometimes I see her in my mind lying on her hospital bed convulsing and shaking terribly. I remember my mothers face in pain to see her child lying there and for the first time not being able to ease her pain or help solve it. It has taken my family many years and still are trying to heal the pains of that tragic accident.

Although I was too young at the time I really didn’t feel any pain yet for fifteen years, I have had to live with this living miracle and just that, has had humbling effects on me. Her life in mines I consider a blessing because she has taught me so much. She, who was diagnosed to not to live, walks and talks. Whenever a taunting remark was made or whenever she couldn’t play or do things that normal kids could do, her effort to try was humbling. Now she is ready to enter the MTC and I’m proud and humbled to have a sister that so bravely lives her life day by day.
