In the story of "Young Goodman Brown" we learn that flirting with evil would have its consequences. This essay will be comparing and relating "Young Goodman Brown" and our society today. And how both have situations where people pay consequences for flirting with evil and risk possible danger to themselves and others.
In the story "Young Goodman Brown" a young married man decides to go on a journey into the deep, dark woods. In a way, his unpredictable adventure does not make sense because Goodman Brown was raised as a Christian and knows what is right and what is wrong. Young Goodman Brown felt guilty because of the way he was raised. He knew it wasn't a right thing to do, but he goes and leaves his wife Faith anyway. "Poor little Faith!" thought he, for his heart smote him. " What a wretch am I to leave her on such an errand." (Hawthorne pg.1) And when he did come back he lost trust in everyone he knew and he thought they would only be thinking evil thoughts.
The articles I found that could relate to "Young Goodman Brown" show how much terrorists have paid their dues for committing crimes against the United States and other nations. Terrorists have always existed and committed high crimes, but none of them were as big as the recent attack on the United States on September 11th 2001. And that was just a start to unstoppable attempts of attacks on the United States territories. A reason to this attack is simple. Palestians say that United States intrude all of their land when they want to and how they want to. "In its early days, the Bush administration sought to reinvigorate economic sanctions on Baghdad, which were imposed after Iraq invaded Kuwait in 1990. Powell proposed streamlining the restrictions while working with Iraq's neighbors to adopt new border controls to prevent the smuggling of oil out of the country and other goods into the country."
