Forest Gump
Forest Gump was a boy who couldn’t even meet the minimum requirements for a public education. Regardless, he lived a very charmed life. He taught Elvis to dance, was a college football star, war hero, ping-pong professional, seafood tycoon, an original investor in Apple, ran across the country multiple times, and was a father. It shows that stupid really is as stupid does, that the commonly accepted idea of what really makes a person intelligent may not really make that person intelligent.
We all have a Jenny in our lives, probably multiple Jennys. Someone who cares about you and who you care about too. Some of mine would be my friends who have been with me for years and family like my sister, cousins, nieces, nephews, parents, grandparents and so on. I know that these people play a great part in my life as Jenny’s did Forest’s.
He is a genuine hero. I admire the fact that even though napalm was being dropped and Charlie was all around, Forest still went back and carried his men away from danger, suffering a mere shot to the buttocks. That’s courage and he didn’t even think twice. We may not all be war heroes, but simply having any courage and compassion makes you a hero. It would be nice if my life were more like Forest’s because of his successes, but hey, I got time. I just have to set my goals and have the determination to achieve them.
I would classify this film as a historical fiction. To think that one man has had this much of an impact, has been directly involved with, and has seen all this history, gives me chills and sort of inspires me. It makes me think of the future. Like Forest, I don’t exactly know what the future has in store. Ultimately, like most people, I would like to make a positive impact and have children, just like Forest did.
