Abstract
There are four function of management which plays an intricate part in the success of an organization. Management at different levels have to be cognizant of these function and be able to perform all of them to ensure performance, moral and the end product meets the goals of the organization.
The four functions of management are planning, organizing, leading and controlling. These are very essential elements to developing a strong infrastructure with an organization. In order for a business to reach optimal success, these functions must be performed on all levels of management. By doing such, this addresses the strategic, tactical and operational elements, which reflects on implementation of a sound organization. Most levels of management perform these functions without even recognizing they exist. Executive level management is more geared to handle the organization and planning aspects of these functions. While, the focus of directing and controlling are more pronounced among the Tactical and Front-Line management level. Understanding these functions will promote a healthy knowledge of how they affect businesses.
Planning is the core function because it is the basis where all the other functions are built. Planning is the process of gauging where the business stands and where the future will be. A successful planning measure defines the goals, rules, plan, and procedures. Planning is a requirement to develop a growth platform for the business. The planning process is the road map that leads to success or detriment. A well communicated plan leads to upward mobility and a sound fore-front. Executive Management plans abroad, meaning the plan based on the business mission. Tactical management plans for the assets and various components to be inline to do the job. Meanwhile, Frontline management tackles the task in hand and to ensure the output is of quality.
