Management is a Process undertaken by one or more individuals to coordinate the activities of others in order to achieve results not achievable by one individual acting alone.
A manager is someone skilled in knowing how to analyze and improve the ability of an organization to survive and grow in a complex and changing world. This means that managers have a set of tools that enable them to grasp the complexity of the organization's environment.
Managerial roles / functions are to establish and operate effective organizations, create positive and conducive working environments and also provide opportunities and incentives necessary for organizational operation. Directing, Controlling, Technical, human, Interpersonal, conceptual and decision making skills are very essential in solving some of the complex problems of management. Resource appraisal is also one such technique or skill that can be used effectively as a basis for formulating strategies and taking Managers need a variety of skills to execute these functions successfully.

Why should I study management? I’m going t be an accountant.
An accountant is a practitioner of accountancy, which is the measurement, disclosure or provision of assurance about financial information that helps managers, investors, tax authorities and other decision makers make resource allocation decision. An accountant on the other hand is someone who maintains and audits business accounts.
Accounting is more of a routine practice / steps which are professionally practiced. These skills are applicable with or without the managerial skills as they are a matter of applying the accounting skills learnt. These steps are to be followed to the letter to avoid making any errors that would cost the company dearly. Accounting is also historical and deals more with past events e.g. entering records of a sale etc
