Future Of The Internet
The internet is the driving force in the technological revolution of the 20th century. There are no limitations and the future trends for this technology are infinite. Society has observed the World Wide Web grow into the most important technological advancement since the automobile. The internet has become beneficial and the world, businesses, governmental agencies and private institutions have embraced this technology. The internet is constantly evolving and future trends are introduced constantly. People have observed the internet change from being a tool only available to businesses and the wealthy to becoming a necessity for people of all walks of life. There has started a constant battle over who will gain a clear advantage in finding the next social structure that guides the internet into the future (“The Future,”2008). I will discuss two future trends that will address how the internet will eventually become 100% wireless and how it will be available anywhere.
In the past, the internet has linked the world through hard wired Ethernet cords. As technology grows, now more than ever society has seen the use of wireless technology become the norm. Wireless technology has a couple of advantages over the traditional hard wired approach. The first advantage is no infrastructures to build or maintain, which results in a lower operating cost (“The Future,”2008). There will still have to be people to maintenance the wireless sector but again this will be done wirelessly via the internet.
Security will be the most important aspect of controlling the wireless technology. The use of airwaves and no possible way to purchase the space in the sky will be an obstacle for using complete wireless technology. Satellite television has recently learned this, their transmissions are relayed through the sky so hacking and stealing has become a growing problem with this technology.
