Why should gambling not be legal? This is a question that so many non-gamblers have questioned our government. Gambling to think about this question only because gambling brings many people into debt. Gambling also causes many people to lose close friends and family. The problem causes so many issues that people cannot get themselves out of. Gambling is also attracting the young children to start at an early age. Although it is affecting all ages, the younger children just do not know better. Gambling is just what they see more each day. There are many influences around such as friends, family, television, internet and sometimes just the neighborhood. There are just so many ways to gamble that many people have their decision made up on which they like the most. All in all, gambling should be illegal because of all the issues that pertain to this activity.
The gambling frenzy has become a political campaign a lobbying tactic for many politicians for soliciting votes. Different states have different forms of legalized gambling. The government is using the people to implement additional forms of gambling by leaving it up to the voters. For instance, in my state of Maryland that is trying to legalize casino gambling, which is on the ballot for 2008. Most states have some form of lottery gambling. Many of states they have different forms of gambling like online gambling, casino gambling, lottery, dice, racetrack and sports betting. The involvement in the gambling activity goes as far back as the early 1800’s. Even though the federal government is not a major factor in the legalization of gambling, they have left that major role in the hands of the state government.
